A New View of Society, Economy, the Environment and Government

Food, energy, a desire to improve, human-habitable environmental conditions, raw materials and a population are the root ingredients of an economy.  It’s best for the government to not interfere with the production of goods, so long as it’s done in a socially and environmentally friendly manner.  It’s also not in the government’s interests to interfere with the trade and exchange of goods and services except for the preservation of the environment and the society in which we all need to live.  Examples of this include cases of extreme famine or shortages of food, the production of weapons and munitions, the preservation of solid employment that pays workers according to the value of what they produce.

It is in the society’s interest, and therefore, in the government’s interests to have regulation and oversight with regard to safety, social and environmental health and employment and compensation packages (according to to the profitability of the company and the value of their work).  It is in society’s interests to look after education, defenses against all hazards and threats, law enforcement, interactions with foreign societies, health and infrastructure.  These social investments play a role in the production of the real economy, through the purchasing and selling of goods and services related to these fields and the preservation of the global human society and the environment, such that the economy is able to grow out of fertile social and environmental soil.  It then technically falls into the government to look after these non-monetarily based issues, according to the actual interests, expressed needs and desired wants of the public.

A government should mimic the public’s wishes, needs, character and condition, guiding them to realize the common human needs of health, survival and well being.  That is the way to longevity for the government and its members, as opposed to trickery, deceit, force and a disregard for the actual needs and conditions of the people living in a given society.  It is not unlike a marriage between two equals where the more passive and docile power has more influence, stability and longevity than the “stronger”, more active power.  The receiver chooses what to receive and that effectively controls the relationship while the giver provides the framework in which the receiver operates for better and worse.

The process of governing is a scientifically grounded titration of the quality, degree and methods used in order to arrive at optimal results for the society, observation of the given society’s character, behavior and temperament at all given times and adaptation to changing needs and conditions within and external to the society for the sake of society.  If the governing members are clever at selling themselves and their abilities to achieve optimal results for society as a result of their work, they will enable themselves to remain in power longer and with less hassle than if they governed over and antagonistically towards the needs and interests of the people living in the society that they govern.  This has been demonstrated time and time again throughout history and yet no one has ever thought to link positive, effective and societally/environmentally oriented governing to the longevity and resiliance of governing factions and members.  Why should societies linger under the hand of abuse, neglect and mediocre skill when it can be demonstrated to society as a whole that there is a better way for all members of a given society (including for the abusers) than is already present at the given moment.

This is history talking, not my own thoughts.

Think about it.
